Indian Concrete Institute was registered on 7th September, 1982 as a society with headquarters in Chennai, India and has been in service to the industry and professionals, since then. Main objectives of the institute are to promote growth of concrete construction, to disseminate knowledge among engineering fraternity, collaborate with national and international agencies in creating better understanding of concrete construction technology, etc. The institute publishes technical journals, arranges periodic seminars and exhibitions on the subject and distributes various awards to encourage development of concrete technology.
The Institute has over 20 centers, across the country. Each centre celebrates Concrete Day on 7th September of each year. On this day, Outstanding Concrete Technologist of the year is also honoured by each centre.
ICI at its one of the local centres holds national and international mega events called ICI-IWC comprising a Conference cum Exhibition. First one was held in Bangalore in 1993 second one in Kolkata in 1998 and the third one in Pune in 2003. Next such event including Silver Jubilee Celebration of the institute is planned to be held in Delhi, in the year 2008. Theme of the event will be Concrete for New Age Structures which is expected to be attended by over 1000 participants from all over the world. |
